DATE NIGHT @ CÔTE BRASSERIE | 3 COURSES FOR £13.50

Let it be known that I love only three things in this world; a bargain, some food, and a big bloody foodie bargain. I’ve been eyeing up the Côte Brasserie Early Evening Menu for a while now. Côte Brasserie is a French restaurant chain that does breakfast, lunch and dinner. The set menu changes monthly, and it offers 2 courses for £10.50, or 3 courses for just £13.50. This isn’t a sponsored post, but I’m just literally obsessed with the dinner I had on Monday (I’ve been scrolling through my camera roll over and over to salivate over my pictures) and I wanted to do a review!

So the Early Evening Menu is available from 12-7pm Monday to Friday, meaning the clientele is undeniably 65years plus. But since I can usually be found in bed with a crossword and a cup of tea by 10:30, I’m not going to let that put me off. (I repeat, 3 courses for £13.50, I’d sit near Donald Trump and wouldn’t bat an eyelid).

We arrived at 6:30ish, after a couple of swift G+Ts in a local pub. We ordered a bottle of red (I forget which; might have had something to do with the G+Ts) which cost about twenty quid and tasted good. AND made me feel like a very sophisticated adult who has her life together.

We both ordered Langoustine Tails to start, which I’ve never had before. I did have a quick Google to find out just what the bleeding heck it is, and it’s Norway Lobster tails in a breaded little ball with some delicious mayo-ey dip and rocket. I loved it. It was a new one for me, but it was really lovely. There are about five or six meals to choose from out of each section, so there’s plenty of options.

Then for the mains, I chose Steak Frites and Chris had Moules Frites. Steak Frites is a thin, beaten steak with chips. It’s served pink, which suits me just fine, and comes topped with melting garlic butter. I was surprised Chris chose to have mussels, which also came with chips, and true to form he had already mangled the lot on his plate before I could get a picture. So you’ll have to use your imagination. Again, it was bleeeeedin fabulous. It was Chris’s first time having mussels and he loved his, too.

I’m not usually a pud person, but after a few glasses of red and not really caring how gluttonous I was looking, I chose to have a Dark Chocolate Pot. It’s just some sort of dark chocolate ganache, topped with creme fraiche. It’s not overly sweet, and not huge either, so it wasn’t overwhelming. It was a beautifully, slightly bitter way of ending the meal.

The meal only cost us about £50, which is so ridiculously affordable for a three-course-meal for two people. Who knew I’d enjoy French food so much, either? I’d recommend visiting Côte Brasserie if you’re passing one day, and get in there before 7pm to save yourself some ca$$$$h. If you still don’t fancy it after this, I literally don’t know what to tell you. I literally ate three courses for 13 quid.

Lots of love,
Jasmine x

  1. Wait....are you saying your wine cost more than your food? Twenty quid for a bottle of wine? TWENTY QUID??? I'm so happy that the food was great, but that's where they're making their money, honey. Ask for a carafe of tap water next time B)
